HILL AIR FORCE BASE — The popular air show featuring the Air Force Thunderbirds that took a hiatus this year will be back in 2012, the base announced Monday.

The two-day event, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for May 26-27.

"Open houses and air shows serve as premier platforms that enable us to showcase the Air Force mission and the extraordinary things our airmen do every day," said Col. Sarah Zabel, 75th Air Base Wing commander.

"This is significant to our recruiting efforts, but also essential to educating the American public on the training and capabilities of their Air Force," she said. "It's also a way of saying 'thank you' to the Utah community for generously supporting Hill Air Force Base."
