RIVERTON — Students at South Hills Middle School will have to work extra hard in the coming days if they want to see Maj. Gen. Brian Tarbet, adjutant general of the Utah National Guard, shave his head.
The students were promised if they exceed their goal of raising money for Utah's National Guard families, the commanding general will reward them with a new haircut, according to a Jordan School District press release. The students have a goal of raising $12,000, but Tarbet's pledge is only good if they surpass that by $1,500.
The students have already sent more than 500 stockings filled with necessities and presents to servicemen and women overseas, but they're hoping to raise additional funds to benefit the Utah National Guard Charitable Trust. The money in the trust goes to helping military families at home.
The students will present a check to the National Guard on Dec. 20.
Those interested in donating can contact the school directly at 801-412-2400.
