Utahn Rick Nelson is one of the final five left on the island in "Survivor: South Pacific" on CBS after Wednesday's episode.
Edna Ma, 35, an anesthesiologist, was voted out and sent to Redemption Island even though she tried to convince at least three others to vote 19-year-old Brandon Hantz off. At the previous tribal council, Hantz let it slip they were going to target Ma next.
Benjamin "Coach" Wade, 39, won this week's immunity challenge.
The five that are left made an agreement in their first days on the island to stick together and make it to the final five.
At the beginning of the episode, all six of the survivors got to see video letters from a family member. After the Redemption Island duel, they got see them face to face. Nelson, 51, a rancher from Aurora, Utah, got to see and hug his wife.
"I don't smell very good, but you look good," Nelson said as he saw her and held her.
During the video letter, she said that they missed him and joked about getting sick of feeding the cows. In an online video, Nelson mentioned that because they have the ranch, they don't travel and he was glad that she was able to come.
Wade, Hantz and Albert Destrade, 26, got to spend more time with their brother, father and mother, respectively, on Redemption Island.
John Cochran, 24, a Harvard law student, faced Oscar “Ozzy” Lusth, 30, during the Redemption Island duel, which included using grappling hooks to grab bags and then use a ball in a table puzzle. Lusth narrowly beat Cochran.
Cochran, who switched tribe loyalties from the Savaii Tribe to the Upolu Tribe members after the two tribes merged, felt betrayed after the former Upolu Tribe members didn't take him farther in the game. Cochran is the fifth jury member. The jury will ultimately help choose the winner of the $1 million prize.
Dawn Meehan, a Brigham Young University English professor, lost her Redemption Island duel and is now a member of the jury.
