SANDY — Police are asking for help locating a woman and her son who were on their way to a new home in Florida on Thursday when they were last heard from.
Suzanne Ribas, 48, has suffered blackouts in the past, Sandy police said, and there is concern that the 1997 black Ford Taurus she was driving may have gone off the road in Spanish Fork Canyon.
Ribas was reportedly talking with her daughter via cell phone from the canyon about 5 p.m. Thursday when the call was dropped. Ribas and her son, James, 13, who were traveling with a poodle, have not been heard from since.
Sandy police said both the Utah County Sheriff's Office and the Utah Highway Patrol have searched the area, but nothing has been located. Anyone who has seen the vehicle or the Ribas family are asked to contact Sandy police at 801-840-4000.
