HERRIMAN — The Herriman Library is asking for donations of new hats, scarves, gloves and socks to help hundreds of refugee families from Burma, Bhutan, Somalia and Iraq who have made Utah their home.
“Many refugees have fled from very warm climates in Africa and Asia, so they are not well prepared to experience winter in Utah,” said Aden Batar, director of Refugee Resettlement Program of Catholic Community Services of Utah.
Batar said winter accessories are needed for people of all ages, but especially hats and gloves for school-age children.
Donations are being accepted at the library on 5380 W. Herriman Main St. from Nov. 28 through Dec. 12.
For more information on the winter charity drive, call Herriman Library at 801-944-7680.
