SALT LAKE CITY — With Aubrey Paul advancing to the finals, the BYU women's tennis team ended its fall season with a strong showing in the Utah Invitational Saturday.

Senior Aubrey Paul reached the finals of the singles draw-B where she challenged Utah's Sammie Watson. Paul pushed Watson to a tough three-set match with two tiebreakers, but was edged out, 7-6 (3), 3-6, 7-6 (5).

“Aubrey played really well the whole tournament and is happy with the way she played,” BYU coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. “Our team played well and it was a good way to end the fall season.”

The semifinals of the singles draw-B featured three Cougars.

Paul reached the final after topping teammate freshman Meghan Sheehan-Dizon, 6-3, 6-4.

Sophomore Desiree Tran faced Watson in the semifinals, but was unable to overcome the instate rival, falling 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.

Senior Megan Price was unable to top Boise State's Sonia Klamcynska, 6-3, 6-3, in the quarterfinals of the singles consolation bracket.

In doubles, LSU's Olivia Howlett and Yvette Vlaar edged out BYU’s Price and freshman Sheehan-Dizon, falling 8-5 in the quarterfinals of the main doubles draw.

The tournament marks the end of fall play for the Cougars, who won't play again until Feb. 3 when they travels to play Long Beach State.
