VERNAL — The manhunt for Bruce Silva — the Duchesne County man accused of gunning down one person and wounding another in June — has ended in Mexico.

Silva, 23, was arrested about 7 p.m. Wednesday in Tiajuana, following a joint operation involving the U.S. Marshals Service and the Mexican National Police, according to supervisory deputy U.S. marshal Jim Phelps in Salt Lake City.

"They were able to positively ID him and take him into custody without incident," Phelps said. "We're very happy."

Silva's capture came one day after the U.S. Marshal's Joint Criminal Apprehension Team in Utah arrested his girlfriend, 23-year-old Shadow Marie Reed, in West Valley City. She was taken into custody without incident as well, Phelps said.

Uintah County sheriff's detectives also arrested three of Silva's brothers Tuesday on no-bail warrants.

Kevin Silva, 20, Alberto Silva Jr., 18, were arrested without incident at their homes in Myton. Adrian Silva, 23, surrendered himself to authorities later in the day.

All four Silva brothers and Reed are charged in 8th District Court with murder and attempted murder, first-degree felonies; possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and three counts of aggravated assault, second-degree felonies; and three counts of committing a violent offense in the presence of a child, a class B misdemeanor.

Teaunna F. Cesspooch of Fort Duchesne also faces identical charges in 8th District Court. She is being held in the Uintah County Jail without bail as well.

Cesspooch, 19, was at the wheel of the pickup truck that delivered the Silva brothers, Reed, and two other people to a Lapoint home on June 18 after someone broke out windows in Bruce Silva's car, according to charging documents. The group had gone to the home intent on “'settling' the issue about the broken windows” and were armed with baseball bats, the charges state.

When an argument ensued between the pickup truck's occupants and the people at house, Cesspooch handed a semiautomatic handgun to one of the men she'd driven to the house, court documents state. Bruce Silva demanded the gun from the man, who handed it over.

“(Bruce Silva) racked a round into the chamber and began firing into the group (on) the porch,” the charges state.
