Days of '47 celebrations have been held each year since 1943. The annual parade ranks among the oldest in the nation, according to Days of '47 Inc. The float parade winners were announced Tuesday morning, July 24, 2012, including the Theme Award from the Salt Lake Stake.

Pioneer Day, officially designated as July 24, is a holiday unique to Utah as it commemorates the immigration of the Mormon pioneers entering the Salt Lake Valley in 1847 to create a new home.

Whether it is spent playing pioneer games, watching a parade with the family or going to a community barbecue, Utahns around the state will be celebrating the holiday throughout the weekend.
