According to a story in the Arizona Republic, the fire that destroyed an LDS stake center in Mesa, Ariz., last month was caused by arson. "It's a crime. It's arson. We're going to find out who did it," said a federal investigator in the case. "When you burn down a church, you are sending a statement." However, according to the newspaper the investigator "declined to call the arson a hate crime."
