Solemn assembly in Saturday morning conference session

MormonTimes.com has learned that the solemn assembly for the sustaining of President Thomas S. Monson will be held during the Saturday morning session of the conference session of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.The last solemn assembly, held in April 1995, was in a session conducted by President Monson where Gordon Bitner Hinckley was sustained as prophet, seer, revelator and 13th president of the LDS Church. LDS church's public affairs department confirmed the schedule for the assembly. The Saturday session starts at 10 a.m. MST.The assembly to sustain President Hinckley was held in the Salt Lake Tabernacle where church presidents have been sustained since John Taylor in 1880. President Monson will be the first president sustained in solemn assembly in the new Conference Center that sits a block from Temple Square. No official announcement has yet been made about the timing of the meeting.
