A new online radio station aimed at Mormon listeners has launched.
The station, whose call letters are YLDSR, can be found at www.yourLDSradio.com. The program director is Sam Payne, a poet, singer, songwriter and radio show host. The focus of the station is upbeat, contemporary music featuring new artists, with some pretaped program segments. When listeners click on the station, they hear a live stream of songs. Information about the song, artist and album, as well as a graphic of the CD cover, appears as the song is played. There is also an option to buy and download music.
Music played on the station "will be chosen at first from among songs that are already making the biggest impact in the cultural LDS listening experience," Payne said.
Listeners also will have the option of hearing on-demand prerecorded programs such as Steven Kapp Perry's "Cricket and Seagull" program, Greg Hansen's 10-minute "New Artist Show" and Payne's "Radio Family Journal."
The station is part of the music division of yourLDSneighborhood.com.Click to hear an audio interview with Sam Payne.
