The LDS Ogden Utah Stake will celebrate its 100th anniversary this weekend. The celebration will include a float in the Ogden Pioneer Days Parade, a stake temple day, a 5K walk/run followed by a picnic, a stake center open house and a stake fireside.The celebration begins Thursday at the Ogden Pioneer Days Parade, where the stake will have a float. The parade runs from 9 a.m. to noon and begins on 31 St., proceeding north on Washington Boulevard.
The stake has reserved three sessions Friday at the Ogden Temple, 350 22 St. The session times are 7:40 a.m., 1:40 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. A member of the temple presidency will speak to the stake prior to each session.
On Saturday, the 5K walk will begin at 5 p.m. at Mount Ogden Park, on 32 St. and Taylor Avenue. The run will start 30 minutes later at the same location. The run will be followed by a picnic at the park, which will include games and entertainment provided by stake members. The Saturday activities are open to current stake members only.
There will be an open house Sunday at the Ogden Stake Center, 2115 Jefferson Ave., from 4:30 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. to 9 p.m. The basketball court will showcase a historical timeline and other historical artifacts from the stake.
A fireside Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the stake center will feature Elder Marlin K. Jensen, church historian and member of the Seventy.
