The MormonTimes.com Racing
Team had a good showing at the Deseret News 10K Thursday morning, with two
runners finishing in the top three of their races.Lindsey Dunkley placed second in the women's race and set her own personal
record with a time of 33:11.5. It was Dunkley's first 10K in three years."I'm thrilled," Dunkley said. "I was hoping for a top five (finish)."The mother of three said she enjoyed the race route, which began at the
University of Utah's Research Park and concluded at 900 South at Liberty Park.
Much of the course was downhill."I really liked it," the former BYU All-American said. "It's fast. It keeps
you going."The Deseret News Pioneer Day race is the second event in which Dunkley has
represented the MormonTimes.com Racing team. In her first event as a MormonTimes.com racer, she
placed first in the Freedom Festival 5K in Provo on July 4 of this year.Finishing third in the men's 10K was MormonTimes.com runner Grant Robison with a time of 28:59.
Robison also said the downhill track helped his time, though the course was hard
on his legs. He described the course as "deceivingly tough."Robison, who competed in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, said he was happy
to survive the approximately 6.2-mile race, being most accustomed to the mile
run.Chandler Goodwin finished a few runners behind Robison with a time of 30:17.New to the team is Carolyn Quebe, who placed 12th in the women's race with a
time of 35:40.9. Quebe graduated in the spring from BYU, where she ran cross
country and track, and said she was excited to run with a team again.Quebe wanted to beat her most recent 10K time of 39:25 and ended up shaving
nearly four minutes off."This was minutes faster that I planned to go," she said. She and fellow MormonTimes.com teammate Jenna Jensen ran much of the 10K
together. The two were friends and running buddies in college."When you have a team it's so much more fun," Quebe said. "You can run
together and make goals together."Jensen finished just behind Quebe with a time of 35:53.5.Also competing in the 10K were Heather Anderson and Angela Olson. No MormonTimes.com Racing
Team runners competed in the marathon. An estimated 2,300 people competed in the 10K, about half men and half women.
Cash awards include $1,500 for first-place finishers, $750 for second and $500
for third. The Utah finishers received $500 for first, $250 for second and $150
for third.
