OREM — Utah Valley University women's golf coach Sue Nyhus is a believer that when one takes care of the small things, the big things will follow.
With an ambitious schedule that includes stops in Hawaii, Arizona, Utah, California, Nevada and New Mexico, the Wolverines anticipate big things in 2011-12.
"Our strong schedule is a reflection of the direction in which we are heading," Nyhus said. "We alternate playing in stronger and weaker fields to allow our players to dream big and know they can play with the best."
In all, the Wolverines will play twice in Utah, beginning the season on Sept. 2 with the Wildcat Invitational and ending the season by hosting the Great West Conference Championships at the Alpine Country Club on April 23-25.
The NCAA Regionals and NCAA Championships will be held in mid-May.
In between, the Wolverines will play in tournaments hosted by Gonzaga (Worley, Idaho); Nevada (Dayton, Nev.); New Mexico State (Las Cruces, N.M.); Hawaii (Ko Olina, Hawaii); Northern Arizona University (Sedona, Ariz.); Bucknell (Las Vegas, Nev.); UC Irvine (Irvine, Calif.) and Wyoming (Chandler, Ariz.).
Along with hosting the GWC championships, the Wolverines will host a Duel in the Desert in early March.
"This schedule will help our players master the small details," Nyhus said.
