ESPN.com's Ted Miller says the Utes are in "good shape" with Jordan Wynn at quarterback. He's one of four Pac-12 quarterbacks in that category, joining signal callers from Oregon State, Arizona State and Colorado.

Miller's "great shape" listing features Stanford, Oregon, USC, Arizona and Washington State. The "we'll see" grouping includes UCLA, California and Washington.

The Kruger Care Foundation golf tournament featuring several former Utes is set for Saturday. Proceeds will benefit Dale Lawrence, who was paralyzed in a high school wrestling match.

CBSSports.com weighs in on Utah's decision not to play Utah State in basketball next season and the possible formation of a BYU, Utah, USU and Weber State gathering at EnergySolutions Arena each year.

— Ex-Utah quarterback Scott Mitchell made an ESPN list of top 10 fantasy season disappointments for his 1994 showing with the Detroit Lions.

— And last, but not least . . .the Los Angeles Times profiles former Ute coach Jim Boylen, who is reportedly set to join the Los Angeles Lakers' staff.
