MURRAY — The Murray Board of Education announced Wednesday that Steven Hirase has been named the new superintendent of the Murray School District. He will officially take the post July 1.
Hirase has been an educator in the district for 24 years, 13 of which have been spent as assistant superintendent. He was a principal at Grant Elementary School for four years and served as director of special education for seven years.
Current superintendent Richard Tranter announced his retirement in February. He had been superintendent of the Murray School District for 13 years.
