Red roundup: Search continues for new U. hoops coach

Reports that Saint Mary's coach Randy Bennett has interviewed for the vacancy at Utah are "inaccurate" according to a reliable source: Bennett, himself. He told the Contra Costa Times Thursday that any speculation about him leaving the Gaels are just "rumors."

Earlier in the day, Utah athletics director Chris Hill maintained his consistent stance not to comment on developments in the search for Jim Boylen's replacement.

— The Bleacher Report says that "Jim Boylen was the proverbial strike two" for a Utah basketball program in dire need of turning things around.

— Former Utah State and current Louisiana Tech athletic director Bruce Van De Velde says there's a sense of urgency to hire a new basketball coach after firing ex-Ute interim boss and assistant Kerry Rupp.

— ESPN.com's Ted Miller looks at "three-headed monsters" in Pac-12 football and gives Utah an incomplete until a starting running back is established.
