LAYTON — A man was flown to the hospital Thursday after suffering a head injury in a two-car accident caused by an alleged reckless driver.
Police were called to Lindi Way and Gordon Avenue about 8:40 a.m. on a report of a two-car accident with injuries and one of the victims was unconscious, said Layton Police Lt. Garret Atkin.
Preliminary investigation showed one vehicle crossed the center lane into oncoming traffic on Gordon Avenue for an unknown reason and hit another vehicle head-on.
The 43-year-old Clearfield woman who allegedly crossed into traffic was treated at the scene for minor injuries, Atkin said. A 40-year-old Syracuse man who was driving the other vehicle was flown by medical helicopter to a local hospital.
Ten minutes prior to the accident, police had received a call from a concerned citizen to be on the lookout for the woman's vehicle. The caller, who followed the vehicle from I-15 to the area near Sam’s Club in Layton, said the woman was driving recklessly on the freeway, Atkin said.
No arrests had been made as of 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
