SALT LAKE CITY — Lacrosse and other sports teams would have access to public school playing fields under a bill that passed the Senate Thursday.
Rep. Stephen Sandstrom, R-Orem, has said he sponsored the bill because he's seen lacrosse teams denied access from school playing fields. All athletic teams should be able to use school fields, he said.
HB218 changes the wording regarding what clubs have access to from "school buildings" to "school facilities."
The bill has passed the House and now moves to the governor for his signature.
