SALT LAKE CITY — Multiple sources are reporting that former Utah offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig (2005-08) will be named San Diego State’s new offensive coordinator. The Utes won the Sugar Bowl in Ludwig's final year.
Former Colorado State quarterback Caleb Hanie entered Sunday's NFC Championship game as the Chicago Bears’ third-string QB, but after injuries to Jay Cutler and Todd Collins, Hanie was called to step in and rally the Bears.
With his team down seven, Hanie, who played for CSU from 2004-07, drove the Bears into Green Bay territory, but was intercepted in the game's final minute.
Former BYU quarterback Steve Sarkisian received a new contract through 2015, paying $2.25 million next season and rising to $2.85 million in 2015. In 1996 Sarkisian led the Cougars to a memorable 19-15 victory over Kansas State in the Cotton Bowl. BYU finished the season with a 14–1 record and ranked fifth in the nation.
Although there is no official announcement, several sources are speculating that Utah State is close to reaching a deal to join the MWC. Utah State was close to reaching a deal in the summer of 2010 but negotiations failed.

I sure hope USU gets in.....they will keep improving in FB...they are better than NM & maybe as good as UNLV/Wyoming...but in Hoops, they will be right there with UNLV, SD State and New Mexico... in the top third of the conf every year maybe even More..
USU should be in the MWC, but the ONLY reason MWC wants them is to keep the Utah market a part of the mtn ad revenue. MWC is a joke and will continue to falter under Thompson's leadership.
Considering that 50% of The MTN's revenue comes from the state of Utah, USU is a must for the MWC. With the top 3 teams gone, I'm not sure The MTN can keep enough revenue coming in to stay solvent. I predict The MTN will fold within two years and More..
