The residents of Salt Lake City may not be aware of the details of Mayor Ralph Becker's proposal for "normalization" of the liquor laws in Salt Lake City residential areas. The current proposal makes it possible to have brew-pubs and dining clubs (50 percent of sales can be alcohol) in our neighborhoods. This means they could be located next door to a private residence, day care or preschool facility.
The proposal will be reviewed by the Salt Lake Planning Commission meeting this Wednesday (Jan. 27) at the City-County Building. If you are opposed to these alcoholic establishments in your neighborhoods, contact the Planning Commission either before or at the meeting.
