Even casual fans of the Late King of Pop may want to check out "Michael Jackson's This Is It" (Sony, $29.95).

The music documentary was recorded in London, just weeks before Jackson's untimely death and was produced with the full support of Jackson's estate. Director Kenny Ortega (the "High School Musical" movies) compiled hundreds of hours of footage, including never-before-seen rehearsals for a planned series of sold-out concerts in London.

Featured are such Jackson hits are "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin,' " "Human Nature," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "I'll Be There," "The Love You Save," "Beat It," "Black or White" and "Man in the Mirror."

The PG-rated movie does contain a few vulgar references and gestures, as well as some violent imagery.

"Michael Jackson's This is It" is now available in a variety of DVD formats. The Blu-ray version ($39.99) features 30 minutes of additional footage, as well as a "Smooth Criminal" short film that was originally shot for the scrapped concerts.

Other DVD releases next week include:

"The Boys Are Back" (Miramax, $29.99) — ★★½ — When this messy, single-fatherhood drama works, it works well. Clive Owen stars.

Special features: "The Boys Are Back: A Photographic Journey," behind-the-scenes minidocumentary.

PG-13 (profanity, vulgarity, slurs, violence, brief drugs)

"Bright Star" (Sony, $27.96) — ★★★½ — A period drama about poet John Keats, portrayed with real sensitivity and class. Abbie Cornish stars.

PG (mild vulgarity, mild profanity, slurs, brief drugs, brief gore)

"I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell" (Fox, $22.98) — ★ — A "Hangover" for people who found this summer's raunchy hit a tad too tame.

R (nudity, sex, vulgarity, profanity) — Roger Moore, The Orlando Sentinel

"Little Ashes" (E1, $26.98) — ★— An insufferably dull, gay-interest drama, based on writings of Salvador Dali. Robert Pattinson stars.

R (nudity, sex, profanity, vulgarity, violence, brief gore, slurs)

"Prom Night in Mississippi" (New Video Group, $26.95) — Documentary feature about racially segregated school dances. Narrated by Morgan Freeman.

Not rated, probable PG-13 (profanity, slurs)
