Albertsons announced Wednesday it will close its three Salt Lake Valley stores on Feb. 22.
The company, based in Fullerton, Calif., said the action affects stores at 3871 W. 5400 South, Taylorsville; 1653 W. 9000 South; and 6950 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan.
Albertsons said it "is guided by what is best for the company's ongoing success and future growth."
Displaced workers will be aided in finding future employment, and customers' pharmacy prescriptions have been sold and relocated to other local drug stores.
Albertsons will continue to operate its three stores in St. George and its Tooele store, and the Salt Lake City distribution center will continue to serve stores in Idaho, Wyoming and Montana.
