PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — University of Utah senior midfielder Kelly Isleib was drafted into Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) Friday when defending league champion Sky Blue FC chose her with the sixth pick in the sixth round, the 53rd pick overall.
"This is a great day for Kelly and for Utah soccer," said Utah head coach Rich Manning. "We are proud that she has the distinction of being drafted by the champions of the best women's soccer league in the world."
A native of Park City, Isleib finished her career as one of the most decorated players ever to play at Utah. One of only three Utes to be named all-conference all four years of her career, she is also a three-time All-Region selection and has twice been invited to the U.S. Women's National Team camp. Isleib owns the school record for career assists (28) and assists in a single season (13 in 2007). She also tallied 16 career goals, 8 as a senior.
