Doctor to accompany LDS relief to Haiti

Utah businesses and residents open their wallets wide to help

Summary

Dr. Jeff Randle will be on board when a plane loaded with supplies for a humanitarian mission of the LDS Church takes off for Haiti, most likely on Sunday. His determination to help has been matched by a huge outpouring of relief from Utahns.

For every lift ticket sold Saturday, Jan. 16, Brighton Resort will donate $1 to Healing Hands for Haiti. Guests at the resort will have the opportunity to match those donations.

Rio Tinto, the international mining company, has donated $250,000 to the Canadian Red Cross.

Employees of Denver-based Qwest Communications International Inc. have donated $40,000 to United Way. Qwest agreed to match those funds, bringing the total donation to $80,000.

Alliant Techsystems is encouraging its employees, many based in Utah, to donate to the American Red Cross International Relief Fund. For every dollar donated by Feb. 1, Alliant Techsystems will match, up to $50,000.

I am an Heavy equipment operator from Oregon and would be interested in helping in Haiti for up to a month through the church. How do I find out the possibilities.

I am grateful for those who have the skills to help the people of Haiti. I know a returned missionary from Haiti who is an ER Doc that will be on this plane as well--it will be great that these docs can speak their language and bring comfort and More..

OUr ward in Cedar City, Utah has a family that has adopted two children from Haiti and they put together a yard sale today. It was heart warming to see so many people donate and buy stuff so that this family can take the money personally to the More..
