When John Taylor was about 11 years old, his family moved to this home in Hale, about 1½ miles south of Milnthorpe, England, the village listed as the place of his birth. His parents, James and Agnes Taylor, had no inheritance, but an uncle, William T. Moon, gave James and Agnes some farm property at this site. The family stayed here for a few years — perhaps three or four — until economic conditions required that they move on. The home is now privately owned. The historical plaque/interpretive sign situated in front of the property was placed there in 1987.
