OREM — Utah Valley University junior guard Corey Claitt was named the Great West Conference Player of the Week Monday by the league office after averaging 20 points and six rebounds in two games for the Wolverines last week.
Claitt, who scored 12 straight points down the stretch against Chicago State Saturday night, recorded what proved to be the game-winner in the GWC opener when he converted a three-point play with 14.4 seconds left. He scored a game-high 20 points and tallied six rebounds, three steals and two assists.
In a 90-85 loss at Texas-Arlington on Jan. 5, Claitt scored a team-high 20 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists and tallied three steals against the Mavericks.
