These new-to-DVD television programs are led by the second season of the cult favorite, "Chuck."
"Chuck: The Complete Second Season" (Warner/Blu-ray, 2008-09, six discs, $69.97). This show about a computer geek who downloads government secrets into his brain begins its second season with an opportunity for Chuck (Zachary Levi) to return to his old life. But if he does, he'll be killed. How's that for a Catch-22?
This quirky, funny, action-oriented show has had trouble maintaining big enough numbers for NBC to have complete confidence, but it kicks off its third season Jan. 10. So catch up with this season and start watching when it returns.
Extras: widescreen, 22 episodes, deleted scenes, Webisodes, featurettes, bloopers, trailers; 3-D glasses for "Chuck Versus the Third Dimension" episode (also on DVD, $59.98)
"Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures! The Complete Series" (CBS/Paramount, 1987-88, three discs, $46.99). The original Mighty Mouse cartoons were shown in movie theaters in the 1940s, then revived on TV in the '50s. This is a short-lived '80s series that offered a "reimagined" version, with a factory-worker alter ego, Mike Mouse, and a sidekick. The show was canceled after a controversial episode that showed Mighty Mouse apparently snorting cocaine, though the producers denied the charge — but you can judge for yourself, since the episode, "The Littlest Tramp," is included here.
Extras: full frame, 19 episodes, three original Mighty Mouse cartoons, featurette, trailers
"Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine For You: Special Edition" (Disney, 1999, $29.99). This Pooh cartoon is reissued in time for Valentine's Day, along with a trio of episodes from the TV series "The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh."
Extras: full frame; 1989 episodes: "My Hero," "Un-Valentine's Day" and "Three Little Piglets"; interactive game, trailers
"The 1930s" (PBS, 1990-2009, five discs, $39.99). Five "American Experience" programs: "The Crash of 1929," "The Civilian Conservation Corps," "Hoover Dam," "Surviving the Dust Bowl" and "Seabiscuit," each with a unique perspective on historical events of the title decade.
Extras: full frame/widescreen, five episodes, extended "Seabiscuit" footage, printable materials for educators ("The Civilian Conservation Corps" is also being released separately, $24.99)
