Utah Jazz: Deron Williams practices, still game-time decision for tonight

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Starting point guard Deron Williams and backup Ronnie Price both took part in today's morning shootaround, but each is being called a "game-time decision" by the Jazz for tonight's visit with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Williams has a sprained and bruised right (shooting) wrist, while Price is bothered by tendinitis in his left (non-shooting) shoulder. If Price can go and Williams can't, Price would make a second straight start in Williams' place.

Williams spent extra time after the shootaround testing his wrist, but he wasn't sure then how it would hold up in a game.

"It feels better," he said.

But, Williams added, "I don't know if I'm gonna go tonight. It still hurts. It still hurts a lot to follow through (when shooting). That's the main thing, is that the motion, the follow-through motion. So, I'm just gonna have to see how it feels when I come back tonight."

Williams suggested he's not sure how much he can help the Jazz if he can't shoot right.

"I don't want to hurt my team," he said. "I'm more confident with Ronnie (Price, who played Wednesday night but didn't practice Thursday because of the shoulder).

"We're still playing that same team we just played (Utah beat Memphis handily at home on Wednesday), so hopefully we still have that confidence.

"I'm not gonna rule myself out," Williams added, "but I don't know if I can go tonight."

Williams was injured when he fell hard to the floor in the fourth quarter of Monday night's loss to New Orleans.

Even if he doesn't play tonight, Williams — no longer wearing the brace he previously had on the wrist — suggested he may able to play Saturday night at Dallas.

"I could," he said. "I mean, it feels better every day. The more shooting I get, the better it's getting. So, that's the positive about that."
