The Utah Office of Tourism has begun a 20-day national cable TV advertising run this week, highlighting the state's winter tourism offerings.
The 30-second spots, created by Salt Lake-based agency Struck/Axiom, feature "snowflake" characters who are deemed worthy to fall on Utah slopes by a humorous "snow judge."
The $1 million TV campaign will result in ads on eight cable networks: Fox News, History, Bravo, Food Network, A&E, ESPN, Travel Channel and MSNBC. The ads are part of an overall $1.2 million campaign, which includes an online effort that began in November.
The snowflake ads also are running on KNBC in Los Angeles through the first week of February and on NBC Universal Sports in Los Angeles this month. Two spots will run on NBC on Jan. 24 during the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix.
