Here are some cookbooks that have crossed our desks recently.
"LIGHT & HEALTHY 2010," by the editors of America's Test Kitchen, $35 (hardback)
This is the first in a planned annual series. The cooks at America's Test Kitchens took the best of 2009's recipes from their magazines and worked on lightening up the recipes so that the flavor was maintained but the calories and fat were cut. Included are techniques to help home cooks lighten up their favorite recipes, including tips on how to make desserts with less sugar and fat, but still rich and moist.
"SUPERMARKET VEGAN: 225 Meat-Free, Egg-Free, Dairy-Free Recipes For Real People in the Real World," by Donna Klein, Penguin, $18.95 (paperback)
The books offers 225 original recipes that only require simple ingredients and just a quick trip to the grocery store. Most of the recipes can be prepared in well under an hour using readily found ingredients.
