OREM — An Orem woman who police believe was stabbed by her husband has died.
Her husband is still in critical condition after a domestic dispute at their Orem home allegedly escalated into a knife fight and slaying, according to police. Police would not release names Monday night.
Police responded to the home at 536 E. Sage Circle (75 South) about 11:30 a.m. Monday and found the couple, both in their late 20s, suffering from stab wounds, Orem Police Sgt. Craig Martinez said.
Both were taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where the wife had surgery Monday afternoon. She died sometime before 5 p.m., Martinez said.
Police are interviewing neighbors and possible witnesses and are treating the case as a homicide. Martinez said police are not looking for additional suspects.
The husband is expected to survive.
Ruben Perez, the couple's roommate, was home at the time but did not witness an assault. However, he heard the couple arguing and called his wife, who called police, Martinez said.
Neighbors said the couple kept to themselves and rarely talked to anyone else. Perez said the couple stayed in their room most of the time and that they moved into the rented house in October.
