SPRINGFIELD, Idaho — State game wardens are turning to the public for help in solving their investigation into the shooting of a bald eagle.
Idaho Fish and Game officials say a juvenile bald eagle was shot Dec. 26 in the small, southeastern Idaho town of Springfield.
It's the second bald eagle killed in Bingham County this year. The agency says a mature golden eagle was reported shot in October.
Golden eagles and bald eagles are protected under state and federal law, including the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Those laws make shooting the raptors or destroying their eggs and nests illegal.
