BEAVER — Snow spiraled throughout Utah Wednesday, leaving two people dead and hundreds of car wrecks in its wake.
A blue Honda Odyssey minivan was traveling northbound on I-15 when the driver lost control near Beaver and crashed over the median into the southbound lane. A Dodge Ram pickup pulling a trailer T-boned the passenger side of the van, fatally injuring both occupants about 12:30 p.m., the Utah Highway Patrol reported.
Robert Moore, 77, and Bedonna Moore, 80, were pronounced dead on scene. Occupants of the pickup sustained minor injuries and were transported to Beaver Valley Hospital.
Exit 112 off I-15 near Beaver was closed for four hours as UHP troopers cleared the scene.
Meantime, traffic accidents littered Utah. In Salt Lake and Utah counties alone, 123 property-damage accidents, 16 injuries and multiple slide-offs were reported from midnight to 8 p.m. Wednesday, but National Weather Service forecasters say that the snow that blanketed the state is minor compared to what Utahns will see today.
