SALT LAKE CITY — A man believed to have robbed at least two convenience stores in Salt Lake City was arrested Friday night.
The man, who was wearing a BYU jacket, first went to a Tesoro at 1699 W. North Temple. He was acting suspiciously and was told to leave by a clerk, Salt Lake City police said. Then he went to the Maverik store at 2700 South and 710 East and attempted to rob the store, police said. The clerk saw him trying to sneak up from behind and told he could take anything he wanted, but police believe the 41-year-old man didn't take anything, said Salt Lake City Police Lt. James Tracy.
Police said he then went to a Tesoro at 2280 S. Highland Drive and took some cash.
Officers from the Metro Gang unit spotted the man's car — an older model gold-colored Mercedes — in the area of 500 East and 4500 South just after 8:30 p.m. and pulled him over. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.
