SALT LAKE CITY — Cold temperatures and patchy fog will dominate the weather over the Christmas weekend.

Salt Lake City may not rise above the freezing mark until at least Tuesday of next week, as a northerly air flow will keep things frigid.

According to the Salt Lake office of the National Weather Service, patchy fog could sweep in Christmas Eve to some valley locations, as temperatures dip to a low of about 14 degrees in Salt Lake City.

Christmas Day will feature widespread haze, as well as patchy fog and highs only rising to 26 degrees.

Friday night will also include a chance of fog and temperatures dipping to 11 degrees.

Saturday will be mostly sunny but will include chances for fog and haze again, with temperatures only reaching the upper 20s.

Sunday might offer improved conditions under mostly sunny skies, with daytime temperatures almost reaching the freezing mark.

Monday and Tuesday will have partly cloudy skies and offer the best hope of finally climbing above freezing at about 33 degrees.

The next chance of snow is forecast to be Wednesday, according to the weather service. However, several weather forecasters predict snow could return to Utah again as early as Monday.
