Here are some books that have crossed our desks recently.

A FIELD GUIDE TO BURYING YOUR PARENTS," by Liza Palmer, 5 spot, $13.99 (f)

YOUNG READERS

"A WHOLE NOTHER STORY," by Dr. Cuthbert Soup, Bloomsbury, $16.99 (ages 9-12)

Mr. Cheeseman and his late wife invented a device so powerful and amazing that all sorts of people want to get their greedy hands on it.

So Mr. Cheeseman and his three children are on the run. They even change their names to hide and have to escape many dangerous situations.

They encounter many helpful characters, the first being Dr. Cuthbert Soup, who runs the National Center for Unsolicited Advice, and becomes narrator for this story.

"HEARTS AT STAKE: The Drake Chronicles," by Alyxandra Harvey, Walker Books for Young Readers, $16.99 (young adult)

On Solange's 16th birthday, she is going to wake up dead. As if that's not bad enough, she also has to outwit her seven overprotective older brothers, and elude an agent of an anti-vampire league who is searching for his father's killer.

Luckily she has her own secret weapon — her human best friend Lucy — who is willing to defend Solange's right to a normal life.
