ROY — A man has been charged with two felonies in connection with the shooting of a 9-year-old North Ogden boy.
David Dunlap is charged with discharge of a firearm and purchase, transfer, possession or use of a firearm by a restricted person. Police say the 28-year-old man fired a loaded shotgun last month, sending pellets through a window at a Roy mobile home.
A 9-year-old boy who was walking by was hit in four places, from his thigh to his neck. Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham has said the boy was about 8 feet from the muzzle when he was hit.
Police say Dunlap told officers he was cleaning the shotgun, then reloaded it before it went off. Dunlap is due in court on Jan. 21.
