COVE, Cache County — A Utah man was killed in a semitrailer truck accident Tuesday near the Utah-Idaho border that has police mystified.
Cache County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to 1631 E. 12600 North in Cove, where a driver was found unconscious in a truck that had jackknifed. There were no witnesses, and the doors to the vehicle were locked. Employees from a local business broke in through a window to get to the driver, Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Chad Jensen said.
The 81-year-old driver was transported to Logan Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death is still under investigation.
Deputies said the truck, which had been carrying a load of steel products to a local business in Cove, was blocking 12600 North when it was found, a couple blocks away from U.S. 89.
The victim's name is being withheld pending family notification.
