Utah Jazz notebook: Problematic knee still limiting Korver

ORLANDO — An admittedly frustrated Kyle Korver isn't sure when his surgically repaired — but still hurting — left knee will allow him to return.

The Jazz's reserve shooting guard didn't play Monday at Orlando, and isn't expected to play Wednesday at Miami in the final outing of a five-game trip.

He sat himself out of the second half of Utah's win over Charlotte last Saturday, and because of the knee he couldn't play in the second half of Friday's loss at Atlanta either.

"I don't understand why it's not getting better," Korver said Monday. "You know, we're trying everything. I thought I was going to be playing by now, for sure."

Korver, who underwent surgery Oct. 28 to remove a bone spur, wasn't sure Monday what his next course of action would be.

"I can't really do a whole lot as far as rehab on the road," he said. "I don't know what's going on. I've got to try to find something new, because it's going too slow.

"I can't really jump and shoot. I can't turn very good to my left. It's hard to slide. It hurts to run. I can't really be effective out there at all."

Korver already has had two different sessions at the P3 Peak Performance Project rehab center in Santa Barbara, Calif., experimented with various braces and even took some electroshock therapy in Utah before a couple of games to "deaden" the nerves in his knee.

"I felt decent in those games, and I was really encouraged," he said. "But as this trip has gone on it hasn't (felt right). But we're trying everything."

Korver said he's been pushing himself to return healthy, and it's not just because his contract expires after this season.

"I would do this anyway," he said. "I feel a responsibility. I know that I'm getting paid, you know, and I want to be on the court,"

Added Korver: "I'm not waiting until I get it to be 100 percent to be on the court, by any means. But I've got to be able to help the team, and right now I don't feel like I can. The second halves the last couple games (before Monday), I'm was just like, 'I can't help the team.'"

"If I'm getting paid to play, I should try to be on the floor," Korver said. "I'm trying, but I just can't right now."

With Korver out Monday, reserve big man Kosta Koufos was on the active roster for the first time in five games and played — logging one minute — for the first time in eight.
