Deal in place for Rome Grand Prix
ROME — Italian organizers say a deal has been signed with Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone to stage a Rome Grand Prix on the streets of Italy's capital.
Course planner Maurizio Flammini told Sky Italia on Sunday that an agreement with Ecclestone "has already been done and signed" but did not say when the first Rome GP might be held. The 2010 F1 calendar has already been set.
City authorities have been making plans for the race for more than a year and intend to use the city streets as a course, in similar fashion as the popular races in Monaco and Valencia.
Chelsea draws 1-1 with West Ham
LONDON — Frank Lampard scored a penalty kick on his third try and Chelsea drew 1-1 at West Ham to move four points clear at the top of the Premier League standings on Sunday.
In Sunday's other games, Birmingham's five-game winning streak ended with a 1-1 draw at Everton although it is unbeaten in nine and up to seventh place.
Wolverhampton climbed out of the relegation zone and up to 12th after a 2-0 victory over Burnley.
