RIVERDALE, Weber County — A semitrailer-truck tipped over at the I-15 and I-84 interchange Saturday, sending its load of onions flying across both freeways.
The southbound semi was merging on to I-84 eastbound shortly after 3 p.m. when it drifted into the right lane and tipped on its side, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. It slid along a barrier and ended up with its right side hanging over I-15.
Onions dropped into the southbound lanes, causing minor damage to one pickup truck, the UHP reported.
The semi driver was cited for failure to stay in a single lane. UHP believes speed was a factor in the crash.
The semi was on its way to North Carolina from Oregon.
