ROY — A driver of a sedan walked away uninjured Friday from an accident with a freight train.
Janis Stonehocker, 55, of Roy, was driving near 6000 South and 2450 West about 3:20 p.m. when train gates began to close. Ahead of her vehicle, a school bus had stopped, which backed up traffic to the tracks, where Stonehocker's vehicle was trapped, said Roy Police Sgt. Curtis Gibson.
A northbound Union Pacific train approached and "she was unable to clear the tracks before the train struck the vehicle," Gibson said.
After the collision, Stonehocker was "shaken up but not injured," he said.
No one in the train was injured.
