SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah women's basketball team will take on South Dakota State in the Huntsman Center at noon on Saturday.
The Utes won in 2007 in Salt Lake City, and South Dakota State evened the score at home last year with a team that reached the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Jackrabbits return four of their five starters.
The Utes are led by senior Kalee Whipple, who averages 14.8 points per game. Freshman Taryn Wicijowski is second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 ppg. She also pulls down seven boards per game.
The Utes' record stands at 5-4 coming off a big win last week over Westminster where the young players all saw playing time. Halie Sawyer recorded her second double-double of the season in that game with 11 rebounds and 10 points.
The game will be broadcast live on KALL 700 AM.
