The following DVDs will be released Tuesday, unless otherwise specified:

"(500) Days of Summer" (Fox, $29.98) — ★★★★ — A simple, refreshingly honest comedy. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel star.

PG-13 (vulgarity, profanity, brief sex, slurs, violence, nude art)

"All About Steve" (Fox, $29.99) — ★ — A creepy and painfully unfunny stalker comedy starring Sandra Bullock.

PG-13 (vulgarity, profanity, violence, brief sex, slurs, brief drugs)

"American Pie Presents: The Book of Love" (Universal, $29.98) — Direct-to-DVD sequel following another group of teens trying to lose their virginity.

R (sex, vulgarity, profanity)

"Beyond a Reasonable Doubt" (Anchor Bay, $29.98) — Remake of the 1956 thriller, starring Michael Douglas as a shady political candidate.

PG-13 (sex, violence, profanity)

"Blind Date" (E1 Entertainment, $26.98) — Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson play an estranged married couple in this romantic comedy-drama.

Not rated, probable R (profanity, vulgarity)

"Call of the Wild 3-D" ($26.99) — ★★ — Comparing itself to the beloved book only makes this clunky format drama seem worse.

Special features: Both 2-D and 3-D versions of movie included (with set of 3-D glasses).

PG (violence, slurs, profanity, brief drugs)

"District 9" (Sony, $28.96) — ★★★ — The "Blair Witch Project" of alien invasion movies is brainy but gets dumb toward the end.

Special features: Two-disc special edition ($36.95) features footage cut from theatrical release, behind-the-scenes minidocumentary.

R (violence, gore, profanity, torture, drugs, vulgarity, slurs)

"Extract" (Miramax, $29.99) — ★★½ — Mike Judge's newest dark comedy is at least as hit-and-miss as his earlier films.

R (vulgarity, profanity, drugs, slurs, violence, brief sex)
