Get rid of BCS

The 2009 NCAA college football season once again resulted without an undisputed national champion. This has seemingly happened every season since the Bowl Championship Series system was installed in 1998. How is it that an undefeated Utah doesn't deserve a chance at a national championship? It is time to get rid of this heavily flawed BCS system and install a playoff. Take the top eight teams in the country, ranked the same way they are now, and put them in a playoff system similar to that of the other 23 NCAA sports. Not only would this system produce a true on-field national champion every year, but this system is set up to generate $376 million, twice that of the current system.

The BCS system does not provide the most competitive games for fans, it doesn't distribute money fairly, it's not equal and the list goes on. We need to devise a system that limits these uncertainties and gives a true national champion, rather than one that is only interested in giving the BCS conferences as much money as possible.
