Hatch Family Chocolates will be featured in a one-hour TLC special called "Little Chocolatiers" on Dec. 21. Steve Hatch and Katie Masterson, the husband and wife who own the Salt Lake chocolate shop, will be shown producing 600 chocolate dice for a casino night party, and building a life-size, all-chocolate flower garden for a couple's fifth anniversary.
According to TLC's Web site schedule on TLC.discovery.com., the show airs at 7 p.m. Mountain time and again Dec. 22 at 10 p.m. Mountain time.
Rebecca Hooper, a salon owner in Sandy, is one of the 12 competitors in the Food Network's "Worst Cooks in America" series, set to premiere the evening of Jan. 3. At stake for the last two standing is the chance to cook for a panel of culinary critics, for a grand prize of $25,000. This six-episode series will put the "recruits" through a culinary boot camp led Beau MacMillan, executive chef at elements in Phoenix and Anne Burrell, host of "Secrets of a Restaurant Chef."
Sun & Moon Cafe, 5195 Emigration Canyon, is hosting a white-wine pairing dinner with wine educator Jack Chase on Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. Wine flight is $15; menu recommendations are separately priced. The restaurant is also offering a three-course Christmas Eve dinner for $35. The dinner, from 5 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 24, includes a salad, a choice of entree and dessert. Bear Country Cookies has opened at The Gateway mall. The shop features freshly baked cookies, Kodiak Cakes, whole-grain baking mixes and handmade fruit syrups. Both Bear Country Cookies and Kodiak Cakes are owned by Joel Clark. The Clark family began selling their mother's whole-wheat flapjack recipe as a mix in 1994 (www.KodiakCakes.com).
