SALT LAKE CITY — Members of Utah's Jewish community gathered Sunday evening to celebrate the third day of Hanukkah.

Those in attendance enjoyed ice skating and food at the Gallivan Center.

The most important part of the event was the lighting of the giant menorah. Rabbi Benny Zippel, Chabad Lubavitch of Utah, hosted the lighting ceremony.

The Hanukkah celebration commemorates a time when there was only enough lamp oil in an ancient Jewish temple for one night, but it lasted for eight.
