Thank you for your informative article about Murray's feral cat problem (Dec. 7). Trap-neuter-return programs like the one Murray is planning to implement are a far better solution than simply feeding ferals and letting them continue to breed, but they can't protect cats from the ravages of life on the streets.
It is vital to promote spaying and neutering of all cats, not just ferals. It is also crucial to never abandon unwanted cats to "fend for themselves." Domesticated animals depend on humans for survival.
