A Salt Lake City man has been charged with child abuse after police said he spanked his son several times for not eating his vegetables.
The 2-year-old boy was transported to a local hospital emergency room for "significant bruising to his buttocks and lower back" after day care workers noticed the injuries and complained to a Division of Child and Family Services worker, according to documents filed Tuesday in 3rd District Court.
Graham Taylor, 25, was charged with second-degree felony child abuse after admitting he spanked his son five to seven times for not eating corn at dinner, according to court documents. Taylor then spanked the boy again 15 minutes later, the documents said. Bail was set at $50,000.
